The Spanish company, through its Chilean subsidiary Vinicas, will present Vitifeed™ 80—an upcycled, standardized grape extract aligned with circular economy principles and designed to support salmon production performance
Alvinesa, a Spanish company specialized in the development of high–value natural ingredients, will participate in the upcoming edition of AQUASUR to present its solutions for aquaculture nutrition, with a strong focus on salmon farming. The company will attend the exhibition through its Chilean subsidiary, Vinicas, strengthening its technical and operational proximity to the local salmon industry.
At the core of Alvinesa’s presence will be Vitifeed™ 80, a functional ingredient based on grape polyphenols. Its key differentiators are its upcycled origin—valorizing by-products from the wine industry under a circular economy approach—and its standardized composition, which enables consistent, industrial-scale application.
Vitifeed™ 80 is a dry extract obtained from grape seeds and skins through a water-based physical extraction process. Its standardization—featuring a minimum of 80% total polyphenols and 60% proanthocyanidins, together with high antioxidant capacity—facilitates its integration into salmonid feed diets and its evaluation through production-relevant indicators.
Alvinesa’s proposition is supported by scientific evidence in salmonid models linking grape polyphenol-rich extracts to improvements in growth parameters, antioxidant support, and positive signals at the intestinal level. From a production standpoint, these effects translate into support for efficiency and performance consistency, impacting key KPIs such as feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR), and batch uniformity.
In Salmo salar, the literature also reports relevant effects on post-harvest oxidative stability, which may contribute to reducing losses and quality degradation risks during storage and commercialization, thereby reinforcing the final economic value of the product.
During the exhibition, Alvinesa will further strengthen its scientific positioning through the participation of Diego Simón, Chief Scientific Officer, who will deliver the technical presentation “Scientific Evidence 2025: Grape Polyphenols and Salmon Performance”, focusing on the scientific basis and its translation into key production metrics.
Through its participation at AQUASUR, Alvinesa and Vinicas reaffirm their commitment to science-based, sustainable, and natural solutions that support a more efficient and resilient salmon industry.
