Alvinesa has taken a major step forward in innovation and sustainability with the opening of its new spray-drying plant this year. Located at its headquarters, the facility features a Techniprocess (France) dual-effect spray dryer—convertible to single-effect—with an evaporation capacity of up to 200 kg/h of water.
According to the Operations Director, “This high-performance equipment, equipped with a fluidized bed and fines-recirculation system, delivers superior yields compared to conventional dryers and adapts to each client’s desired particle size.” In our view, this flexibility positions Alvinesa among Europe’s most competitive toll-dryers.
The company has also commissioned a pilot unit—built by the same supplier—with a 3 kg/h evaporation capacity. Early trials on this unit reduce risks and speed up industrial-scale optimization. With approximately 80% internal availability, Alvinesa guarantees sample delivery within just three weeks.
Additionally, the plant includes a high-capacity warehouse—with cold-storage and pasteurization options—and clean rooms meeting the strictest food-defense standards: pressurized airlocks, climate-controlled air, and rigorous sanitation protocols. Post-processing capabilities feature a vertical-shaft mixer for up to 1 000 kg batches, a mill with interchangeable sieves, sieving down to 250 µm, and metal-removal magnets.
Complementing these services is an in-house analytical laboratory offering liquid and gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, and Karl-Fischer titration. “Our priority is to ensure uncompromising quality from raw material to finished product,” states the Quality Manager.
With this new facility, Alvinesa strengthens its position in the B2B plant-extract spray-drying market, delivering an end-to-end service that marries advanced technology, analytical excellence, and a steadfast commitment to food safety.
